Health-services researchers - cochlear implantation

Two two-year fixed-term positions are available which provide the
opportunity to participate in the analysis and writing up of two large
projects. The style of participation will include taking responsibility for
drafting some papers while collaborating in the completion of others through
data-management and statistical analysis. One project has evaluated the
effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of the provision of cochlear implants
to adults who already obtain some benefit from acoustic hearing aids. The
other project is of very broad scope and has evaluated the effectiveness and
cost-effectiveness of several options for support to children, including the
provision of cochlear implants.
Applicants should possess, or expect soon to possess, a PhD (or a
combination of post-graduate qualifications and experience of equivalent
weight) in a relevant subject (e.g. Health Sciences, Health Economics,
Statistics, Psychology, Child Health, Audiology).
The appointments will be made on the MRC Band 4 scale with a starting salary
in the range £20,000-22,000 (pay award due August 2001) depending on
qualifications and experience.
