Apologies for cross posting
A new Research Centre designed to stimulate Scottish research in the areas
of family and personal relationships is to be launched on June 22nd at
Edinburgh City Chambers.
The Centre for Research on Families and Relationships (CRFR), funded by a
three-year research development grant from the Scottish Higher Education
Funding Council, involves a consortium of experts from the Universities of
Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Glasgow Caledonian University.
The Centre will focus on key issues relating to family and personal life
across the lifecourse, and will also help to meet the research and
information needs of professionals and policy makers in post-devolution
Scotland. Areas of research will include parenting in different social
circumstances, solo-living and social networks, gender and caring, work and
family life, and the wider impact of high rates of couple breakdown,
household change and family regrouping.
CRFR will provide a means to draw together and expand Scottish research
work and to disseminate such information to a wide audience. Staff intend
to set up a directory of research expertise, accessible to practitioners as
well as researchers, publish a series of ‘Research Briefings’, hold
seminars and conferences and develop support for new researchers.
