Invigilation also gives you the chance to test those
hypotheses that have been keeping you awake at night.
For example:
1. Are boys or girls more likely to be left handed?
2. (For GCSE) Does wearing glasses increase your
chances of sitting the higher tier paper? (Contact
lenses make this a tricky one)
3. Is hair length or number of studs related to the
tier?
Prizes can also be awarded for the most unusual mascot
etc.
Have 'fun'.

PS On a more serious note, our school this year is
employing non-teaching invigilators to do Public Exam
invigilation. The time this frees up is being used for
professional development. I can't see who loses from
this (apart from anyone interested in the above
questions).
