I need some inspiration from the ether!
I am a 50 year-old (YOUNG!) graduate (from Brunel 2000, Fisrt Class Honours
BSc Geography) who is commencing a part-time MA at KING'S in September -
Cities, Culture & Social Change.
Whilst working in Registry at Brunel (Temp contract - Jan to June), I have
spent 5 frustrating, increasingly angry months of detailed, well-constructed
and committed jobsearch for permanent positions in London but to no avail.
As a "political" geography student with critical/postmodern leanings I am
increasingly frustrated by the invisible? barriers of ageism and
conservatism that seems to inhibit the majority of employers out there!
I am a flexible and committed individual with a varied background including
barren years spent in insurance and more fertile ones as a househusband
caring for my young children.
Any ideas?
Any suggestions as to sites I could advertise myself?
I reckon anyone who has stretched his boundaries by resurrecting himself
from a life on the streets to a first-class degree within 10 years deserves
to find an enlightened employer willing to embrace maturity and experience
rather than just "potential"
Any comments ( constructive or otherwise ) gratefully received.
Best Wishes
Robert Stephenson
