This conference will bring together physicists, biologists,
neurologists, philosophers, psycho-analysts, sociologists,
historians, literary critics and literary translators to explore the
phenomenon of laughter and its translation.
Speakers include, among others: Susan Bassnett, Laurent Bazin,
Anthea Bell, David Bellos, Sarah Blakemore, Ranjit Bolt, Peter
Bush, Jean-Michel D=E9prars, Susan Greenfield, Terry Hale, Guy
Leclercq, Marie-Claire Pasquier, Adam Phillips, G=E9rard Toulouse,
Aline Schulman.
In association with ATLAS, BCLT, the Maison Fran=E7aise, the
French Embassy, the European Humanities Research Centre of
the University of Oxford, the Performance Translation Centre of the
University of Hull and the Dartington College of Arts.
