Utter nonsense. Someone trying to justify not appointing you. We ARE emergency medicine. I dropped the "accident" like a hot potato two months ago. Sub
specialising is a way of saying "I'm really interested in..." So my sub-specialities would be resuscitation in major trauma and soft-tissue neck injuries. But I
wasn't so aware of that as a junior. In a speciality with such severe shortages in the UK it was a clumsy and thoughtless thing to say.
