Dear Medical Sociology News subscriber
Welcome to the email supplement to Medical Sociology News. This email
service is designed to circulate notices of seminars, conferences and jobs
that are sent to Med Soc News, but with a deadline before the next issue is
due out. Notices will only be sent to those on the current subscription
list. If you wish to make an announcement of this type or publicise an
event then please SEND THE TEXT TO:
[log in to unmask]
Please note that this is NOT a discussion list, so we can't accept replies
or direct general postings to the list. Neil Hunt from the Medical
Sociology Committee will be inviting people to join a separate discussion
list shortly.
If you have copy for Medical Sociology News, please send it in the usual
way by email to:

If you have queries about subscriptions or your email address, please send to:

On a final note we have only just set this list up and are still getting
used to the software. Please be patient with us if there are some initial
'teething' problems.
Best wishes
Judy Green
TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
If you wish to send MESSAGES to the list post them to:
[log in to unmask]
It will normally be forwarded to the list within 48 hours and you will
receive an acknowledgement by email.
Attachments:
Please do NOT send attachments to the list. They will be rejected
automatically. This is because a lot of people won't be able read your
file, either because their email program uses a different method of
decoding files, or because they don't have the right word processing
software. Also, some people have a limited amount of storage space for
email, and if this is filled up by messages with attached files then all
other messages are rejected.
You can send commands to the software running this list (JISCmail) that
will alter how you receive messages. ALL COMMANDS MUST BE SENT TO THE ADDRESS:
[log in to unmask]
Put the command in the main body of the message. If you use a signature
file or 'footer' when you send messages make sure you strip it out before
sending (or you may get un-intended consequences as the software attempts
to interpret you signature as a command).
If you wish to leave the MedSoc News mailing list send the command:
leave medsocnews
You will receive no further email messages form MedSoc News and will only
be able to rejoin the list by contacting the editors of Medical Sociology News.
If you wish to suspend email from MedSoc News (e.g. if you are going on
holiday, study leave, etc) then send a message:
set medsocnews nomail
When you wish to resume receiving email send the following command:
set medsocnews mail
If you wish to receive messages in a digest send the following command:
set medsocnews digest
To stop receiving digests of messages send the following command:
set medsocnews nodigest
Further details of all commands and other mailing lists managed by JISCmail
can be found at:
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk
If you have any questions or problems with the list not dealt with
elsewhere please send them to:
