Following the refocusing of the Health Board into a public health
organisation, a new department of Health Policy has been created –
providing a key co-ordinating function to support the Chief Executive in
developing the strategic direction of Board policy, and addressing both
national and local health targets. This department encompasses a team of
Health Economists.
SENIOR HEALTH ECONOMISTS (2 posts)
£27,992 – £31,491
You will play a pivotal role in applying economics techniques and analyses
to a wide range of health and health care policies and issues. Indeed, your
remit will be to advise the Board on aspects of efficiency and equity
across all of its decision-making using a range of techniques and
applications. There will be a new emphasis on developing expertise within
the team in the determinants of health and health inequalities, workforce
planning and labour economics, market equilibrium as applied to health care
systems, and performance management. It’s an exciting opportunity – and you
will need a minimum of two years’ postgraduate academic or service-related
experience. In return, there is considerable scope for development and sub-
specialisation available including work such as research out with the
Health Board environment. Joining on a secondment basis will also be
considered.
