(I'm resending this message without 8bit encryption. Sorry for the garbage
last time!)
Fellow colleagues:
My name is Marcelo Ale. For some time now, I've been unsuccessfully seeking
a career change within my country, mainly into the finance industry. I have
a "Licenciatura" (5 yr. degree + thesis) in Physics from the Universidad of
Buenos Aires, as well as a MA in Economics from Universidad Torcuato Di
Tella.
As usual in this part of the world, most of my professional experience has
taken place, a bit unwillingly to say the least, in the IT realm, after a
little research work in QFT. The compensation is that I now believe to have
a potentially attractive combination of skills as minimum for Quantitative
positions.
I am also considering going through some further training abroad, in which
case a job would help me to alleviate the (financial!) burden of a full-time
course.
I would really appreciate any advice from scientists who have already made
this move or found themselves in a similar situation.
Tx,
Marcelo
