A new multidisciplinary research program on globalisation, financed by the
Norwegian Research Council, has just been initiated by the Center on
Innovation and Culture (TIK) at the University of Oslo in cooperation with
senior staff members of the Faculty of Social Sciences. TIK is based in the
Oslo Research Park close to the university campus, has modern office
facilities and offers a stimulating multidisciplinary research environment.
Within this program two 3 year research fellowships are available for
research on the driving forces of globalisation (particulary the
interaction between technological and institutional change) and the role of
knowledge in globalisation (particularly with respect to the relationship
between globalising firms and national systems of innovation).
Technological change refers in this context primarily to the increasing
roles of knowledge and ICTs in the global economy, while institutional
change among other things refers to changes in firm organization/work
practices and regulation. In research on globalisation of knowledge the
focus will be on how knowledge is created and diffused within and across
globalising firms, the role of national institutions, organizations and
policies in this context and the wider consequences for society as a whole.
Candidates are invited to present a 5-10 pp. project proposal for research
within this thematic area. The successful candidate will be selected
according to the quality of the proposal, the qualifications of the
applicant and its relevance for the overall research program. The
fellowship can be given at the post.doc. or doctoral level depending on the
quality of the applicants/applications and what is considered most
relevant for the research program.
Applicants should make it clear whether they apply for a post.doc. or a
doctoral fellowship. Applicants for a post.doc.-fellowship must have a
relevant ph.d. in the social sciences or humanities (or have submitted the
thesis for evaluation). His or her CV, doctoral dissertation and a maximum
of 2 more publications (3 if articles) should accompany the application.
Applicants for a doctoral fellowship must have a relevant higher degree in
the social sciences or humanities with a good grading. A CV and copy of the
master-thesis (hovedfagsoppgave) should accompany the application. It is a
condition for being awarded a doctoral fellowship that the candidate is
admitted to TIK's doctoral program (Dr. Polit). Women are particularly
invited to apply.
