This reminds me of an excellent piece it the BMJ a few weeks ago - I
think it was in Personal View where a Prof was considering what we do in
medicine and what folk prefer to die from - he seemed to be suggesting
that we are doing the wrong thing - ie folk want to die of MIs and not
cancer but most of our preventive work produces the goods in prevention
of IHD/CVD/PVD but that not so much on cancer - thus we are not giving
the punters what they want
Interesting concept - made me think for a while
