We have completed an audit and set ourselves a figure of 60% contact time.
Unfortunately finance would like this figure increased quite dramatically
which is not always possible - as we have proven.

Surely the whole point of a clinical audit exercise of this type is to
assess your current contact/admin time percentage ratio and then discuss
those factors which need to be put in place to improve that figure. Then
set
yourself an achievable target figure in the appropriate direction and
repeat
the audit cycle after an agreed time lapse, to see whether you have
achieved
that target. If you have - great! Set yourself another target. If you
haven't - discuss why this might be the case, review your factors and keep
your target the same for the next cycle. This method is usually far more
beneficial to the team spirit than comparing yourselves with what others
are
doing, good or bad, although it doesn't necessarily fit in with the
political model of league tables etc.
