A new multidisciplinary research program on globalisation, financed by the
Norwegian Research Council, has just been initiated by the Center on
Innovation and Culture (TIK) with the co-operation of senior staff of the
Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Oslo. TIK is based in the Oslo
Research Park close to the university campus, has modern office facilities
and offers a stimulating multidisciplinary research environment.
Within this program two 3 year research fellowships are available for
research on the challenges posed by globalisation for multilateral and
national institutions. One of these is available for research on governance
challenges and options posed by globalisation in international finance. Of
particular interest for the programme is research on how changes in the
global financial structure influence growth and innovation strategies at
the regional and national levels. Comparative studies of the motivations
and strategies of various agents, and of the potential of governance
institutions at different levels to regulate their behaviour, are
particularly invited. This fellowship is primarily intended for a post-doc
candidate.
The other fellowship is available for research on the relationship between
globalisation and the European welfare state. The applicant is invited to
design a project considering one of the present challenges to the welfare
state (such as ageing, pension rights, corporatist compromises,
environmental concerns, or the like) in the light of contemporary
globalisation pressures. This fellowship is open for applications both at
the post-doc and the doctoral level.
Candidates are invited to present a 5-10 pp. project proposal for research
within one of these thematic areas. The successful candidate will be
selected according to the quality of the proposal, the qualifications of
the applicant and its relevance for the overall research program.
Fellowships can be given at the post.doc. or doctoral level depending on
the quality of the applicants/applications and what is considered most
relevant for the research program.
Applicants should make it clear whether they apply for a post.doc. or a
doctoral fellowship.
Applicants for post.doc.-fellowships must have a relevant ph.d. in the
social sciences or humanities ( or have submitted the thesis for
evaluation). His or her CV, doctoral dissertation and a maximum of 2 more
publications (3 if articles) should accompany the application.
Applicants for the doctoral fellowship must have a higher degree in the
social sciences or humanities with a good grading. A CV and copy of the
master-thesis (hovedfagsoppgave) should accompany the application. It is a
condition for being awarded a doctoral fellowship that the candidate is
admitted to TIK's doctoral program (Dr. Polit). Women are particularly
invited to apply.
