Just had a reminder that I don't need to go out on the road to find
difficult airways.
60-year-old male, 'bout 140Kg. Cardiac arrest. Team busy with various
things, pacing etc... Decide to have a go at the tube. GCS about -7 so no
problem there.
Chose the LARGEST blade on the Lary... Got in all the way to the handle and
then some... Had cricoid on... Saw epiglottis waving at me a few centimetres
still further South... No view of inlet at all.
Re-Oxed for a while... Re-positioned blade and handed it to assistant...
Took Yankauer sucker and used it (barely reached) to tip up a rather floppy
epiglottis to get the view and tube went in nicely.
Should we start a list here for everybody else's favourites?
