Our practice is probably similar to yours.......thorough cleaning followed
by apposition of the skin as much as possible, no suturing usually. I follow
up carefully and wait for granulation. In large flaps I refer to the Plastic
surgeons for skin grafting. Most do extremely welland the problems usually
occur in our diabetic patients and steroid dependents. Three to four weeks
is the average duration for healing. Antibiotic coverage is important.
