Dear Colleagues,
By now you will probably be aware of the new Cambridge University
Press/Social Policy Association journal, Social Policy and Society. This
message is to inform you that the themed section of the fourth issue will
deal with ‘The Policy Process’, and to invite contributions to it:
contributions on more general social policy issues will, as normal, be
dealt with by the general editor, Tony Maltby. Given the theme a wide range
of topics would be appropriate including: developments under New Labour
(including devolution and constitutional change), the emphasis on
partnerships, the role of pressure groups and local government. Other
issues of relevance would include policy networks, participation/democracy,
international perspectives, including the European Union, and e-government.
As the issue will be appearing early in late 2002, contributors may also
want to consider issues related to the UK general election.
The word limit for all articles will be around 4000 words and the deadline
for contributions will be the end of December 2001 in order to permit
refereeing. There will also be a book reviews and review articles sections
linked to the theme of each issue.
The managing editor for the journal is Tony Maltby, Department of Social
Policy and Social Work, The University of Birmingham, B15 2TT, UK, to whom
contributions and correspondence for the journal as a whole should be sent.
Full details are on the SPA web pages at:
http://www.york.ac.uk/depts/spsw/spa/. However, please do send suggestions
or material for the themed section on the Policy Process directly to me at
the address below.
I look forward to receiving your papers and comments.
