medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
>(Do you know if any good sources exist for the musical bits of it ?
>What bits should I sing if I ever get round to doing the pilgrimage ?)
There are two editions of the music:
Peter Wagner, Die Gesänge der Jakobusliturgie zu Santiago de
Compostela (Fribourg, 1931)
W. M. Whitehill, J. Carro García, and G. Prado, Liber Sancti Jacobi:
Codex Calixtinus (Santiago de Compostela, 1944)
If, however, you would like to sing the 'Cantus parvulorum Hyspannie
saltancium ante peregrinaciones pro blankys & splintris' [coins], with
Spanish words and musical notes, see the pilgrimage chronicle of
William Wey, Fellow of Eton College, who went to Compostela in 1456;
published by G. Williams (Roxburgh Club, 1857).
