Probably. The French and the British were the main excavators of
a number of the Mesopotamian sites, so many of the treasures wound up in
the Louvre and the British Museum. I remember being greeted by Nike of
Samothrace, but there may have been a Lahamu as well (memory is a bit dim
on this, I'm afraid).
Did the Louvre change its name?
