italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
CALL FOR PAPERS:
POETRY IN ITALY IN THE '60s AND '70s
A TWO-DAY CONFERENCE AT THE INSTITUTE OF ROMANCE STUDIES, LONDON: 12-13
OCTOBER 2001
Organisers:
John Butcher (University College London)
David Forgacs (University College London)
Poets writing in Italy in the '60s and '70s faced a very different reality
from that of the years immediately following the Second World War. The new
socio-economic situation, characterised by rapid growth, technological
change and an incipient consumer society, and the arrival of new ideas from
the rest of Europe and from North America inspired an extraordinary range
of different approaches to verse composition.
The main objective of this conference, the first on this subject to be held
in Britain, is to make the work of Italian poets writing in these two
decades more widely known and appreciated in this country.
Papers are invited in either English or Italian on any aspect of poetry in
Italy in the '60s and '70s including individual poets, groups, themes,
critics and the publishing industry. All papers should last approximately
twenty minutes.
Please send the title of your proposed paper and a 100 word abstract before
20 May to John Butcher:
