I agree with previous comments that the desk manual needs to be updated to
ensure it remains useful. The publication involved a large number of
individuals; I don't see why additional sections and revisions shouldn't
equally collaborative.
To get the ball rolling we need to devise a list of potential subject areas
to pass to a Project Board (representatives from ALGAO and EH as before?).
Perhaps Martin Newman (EH) could keep a log of suggestions and after an
agreed time SMROs etc can discuss themes and work out priorities.
My initial ideas:
One theme published in the Manual on the that it was underdeveloped (we
knew at the time but could not include it) was the section on GIS.
I would be interested in a section on how archaeological records are
organised in other EU countries (perhaps everyone else knows already, or
doesn't want to!)
Sources of external funding. Obviously HLF, but there are many other
places to go to as well and I wouldn't know where to start.
