EGRG POSTGRADUATE SYMPOSIUM 2001

FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS
Papers are invited for submission for the annual Economic Geography
Research Group (EGRG) postgraduate symposium, to be held within
the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) at the
University of Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The symposium is open to all economic geography postgraduates, at
whatever stage of their research, to both attend and participate in a
constructive exchange of ideas, methodologies and research findings
in a relaxed and informal environment. Applications are also welcomed
from those who have completed their doctoral thesis within the last
two years, who may wish to highlight their past, present or future
research.
Additional activities at this years symposium include a panel led
discussion involving Dr Nick Henry, Dr John Tomaney and Dr David
Charles entitled 'Economic Geography:a purely academic pursuit?'.
Also an informal overview of the night-life consumption economy
within Newcastle will be provided by Dr Paul Chatterton, followed by
a prolonged evening of participant observation (i.e a night out).
Papers/ presentations should be around twenty minutes in length (to
allow for discussion) and a 300 word abstract should be submitted by
31st May 2001 (preferably by e-mail: RTF format) to either Stuart

([log in to unmask]) at CURDS, Claremont Bridge, University of
Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, NE1 7RU.

Both presenters and attendees need to complete and return the
registration form below together with a registration fee of stlg12
(includes lunch, refreshments and symposium pack) prior to
31st May in order to be confirmed as a delegate at the symposium.
Accommodation is available (B&B) between 3rd and 6th of July at
a cost of stlg23 per person per night. In order to secure
accommodation delegates are asked to provide payment as part
of the registration process (see below) by 31st May
2001.
Finally, please indicate clearly on the form below whether you
intend to present a paper and whether you will be requiring
accommodation.
