Journalists eligible to attend training on peacebuilding in Southeast Europe
Journalists from 10 Southeastern European countries are eligible to
participate in a two-week intensive training program and regional workshop
in Romania on peace building, conflict transformation and regional
cooperation.
The workshop, from May 28 to June 8 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is also open to
national and local level politicians, diplomats, senior staff of
non-governmental organizations, human rights workers, lawyers, judges,
professors and military officials.
The event is organized by the Peace Action, Training and Research Institute
of Romania (PATRIR), in cooperation with TRANSCEND, a peace and development
network for conflict transformation by peaceful means, and the
Trans-National Foundation for Future and Peace Research (TFF).
The aim of the program, known as the PCTRC training program, is to
strengthen the capacity of participants to develop and implement ideas,
strategies, and creative proposals to enhance democracy, respect for human
rights, civil society empowerment, and the peaceful transformation of state
conflicts in Southeast Europe.
One of the main goals of the program is the creation of a dynamic, informal
network linking high and medium-level politicians and diplomats with other
sectors, including non-governmental organizations, civil society groups and
journalists, both within countries in the region and between them.
The PCTRC training program is designed for participants from Albania,
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania,
Slovenia and Yugoslavia. Up to 10 positions are also available for
international applicants who would like to take part in the program. For
participants from Southeast Europe a limited number of scholarships and
reduced course fees are offered.
All applicants must have good to fluent understanding of English, which will
be spoken in the program and working groups.
