Hi all
It seems to me that, in the recent past, some were
moved to ask whether it is possible to question the
social model. Whilst I do not necessarily agree with
Professor Low on every point, obviously SM can and
should be questioned, and this is to be welcomed. SM
in its extreme form, and taken to its natural
conclusion, may not be wholly beneficial to all
'disabled' people. Moreover, relying as it does, on
massive societal change it is largely aspirational
and, arguably, likely to pose difficulties as to
practical application.
SM has its place but, with respect, as Professor Low
attempted to point out it is hardly mana from heaven!
Regards
Hazel Cuthbert
