The Department of Information Technology (IFI) at the University of
Zurich offers a full-time position as
RESEARCH ASSISTANT / POST-DOC
in the area
WEB-BASED TEACHING
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for this position must have in-depth knowledge of Web
programming (Java, Perl) and of
markup-languages (SGML/XML/HTML), knowledge of PDF/Acrobat, and
experience in running mid-size SW development projects. Knowledge of
Web based training and tutoring methods, of other programming
languages (e.g. Prolog), and interest in didactic questions would be
additional assets.
A Diploma/Masters degree in Computer Science, or in a related area
(computational linguistics, linguistics) with a minor in computer
science is desirable. Interests in working towards a PhD is supported.
Some knowledge of German is desirable.
DUTIES:
Implementation of a Web based two-semester course in
Computational Linguistics. An existing interactive text, interactive
demos, exercises and on-line tests must be integrated within a Web
based class management system. The sources will be written in, or
converted into, a (non-proprietary) XML-based format, from which the
(proprietary) format of the specific class management system will be
generated.
DURATION:
Two years, to be extended, open immediately.
EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position but a part-time
solution could be negotiated, now or later, if the applicant wants to work towards a PhD.
SALARY:
approx. 60'000-70'000 Swiss Francs p.a. (depending on qualifications).
