> Research studentships are available in the Open University Business School
(OUBS), the largest management education establishment in Europe
(approximately 35,000 students across the continent). The OUBS was awarded
an excellent rating for its teaching by the UK Higher Education Funding
Council, and also received accreditation by AMBA - the Association of MBAs.
The pursuit of high quality research is central to the School's strategy for
continuing expansion; on its first submission to the Research Assessment
Exercise, in 1996, it was awarded a rating of 3a, and research activities
have developed considerably since then. In its commitment to the pursuit of
high quality research and the expansion of its research student programme,
the School is offering a number of studentships.

> The studentships are tenable from 1 October 2001 and are based at The Open
University main campus at Milton Keynes. Applicants should have or expect to
gain in 2001, a good honours degree or equivalent and preferably a masters
degree in a relevant subject and demonstrate the necessary commitment with
well defined research proposals. The School is also willing to consider
candidates for part-time PhD study although studentships are not available
on a part-time basis.
