CALL FOR INTEREST:
SCOTLANDIS USABILITY FORUM
OUR AIMS
The objective of the Scotland IS usability forum ("the SUF") is to promote
excellence in usability engineering throughout the Scottish economy.
The scope of "usability" is concerned with ensuring that technology-based
products and systems;
- are easy to learn and use
- are useful
- are accessible in that they can be accessed and used by the full range of
potential users, including the elderly, disabled and those with limited
opportunity to develop technological skills.
Specific aims of the forum are:
- to promote excellence in usability engineering in the marketing, research
and development of products produced in Scotland
- to help Scottish organisations who buy technology to achieve better value
for money and productivity by improving consideration of usability in
purchasing decisions
- to stimulate and raise awareness of Scotland's capability in usability
engineering, in academia, industry and consultancies
- to provide a forum for Scottish industry, academics and consultancies to
increase awareness of each others capabilities and needs in the area of
usability
- to represent the interests of those involved in usability engineering in
Scotland and, where appropriate, to make representation to decision makers
in the Scottish, UK and European parliaments
HOW WE WILL ACHIEVE THE ABOVE
The forum will seek to achieve these aims by:
- providing a forum for meeting and discussion among those with an interest
in usability engineering in Scotland
- maintaining an overview of Scotland's capability in usability engineering
- organising technical meetings and symposia on high priority technical and
commercial issues associated with usability engineering
- identifying and seeking to collaborate with other relevant professional
bodies in Scotland on matters of common interest.
STEERING COMMITTEE
The forum will be managed by a small steering committee comprising
representatives from the following stakeholder groups:
Industry
Academia
Government
Consultancies
