I need to draw a bar/column graph using the following type of data:
ID Group Value
1 A 41
2 A 42
3 B 43
4 C 44
5 B 45
6 D 46
7 D 47
8 E 48
9 C 49
10 E 50
X-axis - ID (ie each bar represents one ID)
Y-axis - Value
I want to use the group identifier (A, B, C, D or E) to colour each of the bars, so the bars can be one of 5 colours.
The intention is to be able to produce charts of data that will easily show any group clustering.
The only way I can find of doing this so far is to click on each individual bar and change its colour manually. However this has problems, not least because I have 120 bars and 10-15 graphs, but also because if I re-sort my data (for instance so it is in descending order), the colours stay in bar position rather than moving with the ID (ie bar 1 will always remain the same colour).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies for the non-statistical nature of this question
