Greetings academics and academic watchers.
M.Miles: what is there to be 'warm' and 'friendly' about when so many of us still live in the shit
and suffer abuse? we'll get friendly when all our people are free.
can someone do a crip a favour and give a plain English explanation of what Colin Low (of the UK
Disability Rights Commission) actually said about us and our need for rights? I am sure it will
only fill a paragraph or two, what it took him two hours to drone. lots of us really wanna know.
please? (offlist is fine and I will forward anon if u want).
I never seen anyone take so long to answer such a simple question before (has disability rights
gone too far)! interesting innit (but very patronising). also interesting - despite Colin Low's
CLUK (Chronic Language Use Komplication disease), he managed insults in plain english OK.
cheers, clair x.
P.S hey Philip - no problem - just passing it on. yeah a transcript of what was added during the
lecture would be great wouldn't it?! the heckles, the cheers in the 'wrong' places, and the
pathetic responses and 'comments' from Colin... if anyone CAN get it but CAN'T put it out, send it
to me I'll make sure it gets out safely! ( [log in to unmask] ).
response... hopefully we will hear from others who went but I was bored stiff (and sitting on the
floor coz the room was so inaccessible). at least I found out what a canape looks like, so I
learned something. don't start me off Philip! lets just say he ran away without back pat's
because disabled people were trying to question him afterwards, and I was nearly pushed right over
by a security guard (he was surrounded by protectors)! coward, if he's so sure why can't he
discuss it!
P.P.S. if Colin Low is by any chance on this list - one question for you - have u got the guts to
come 'down here' and say that? I live at risk near one of the DRC offices - my door is always down
the bottom of the stairs.
down is up!
