Private unpublished letters et sim remain the copyright of the author in
perpetuity and would pass with his estate
AS far as the early Chancery bills etc are concerned the law realises that it
would be unrealistic to try to trace the descendants and it could be argued
that any documents presented in a legal case would, after that sort of
elapsed time, be in the public domain
