Dear All,
My name is Andrey V. Ivanov (originally from Nikolaev, Ukraine) and I am an
economics student in the University of Auckland, New Zealand. As a part of
the postgraduate Development Economics course here, I have to write a
research essay (a lit. review, really) on the topic of choice, which in my
case is Investment in Infrastructure in Eastern (both Eastern and Central)
Europe - looking at evidence from various countries. Could You please tell
me, where could I find good articles in this area, in particular on:
- What type (human/capital, various sub-types) and how much (evidence from
different countries - in percentages of GDP, sectoral spending as a
percentage of GDP/total spending) - e.g. personally, I know that there's
clearly an under-investment in road networks in Ukraine (all but Kiev,
perhaps), so something along those lines would be nice.
- Who provides (public vs. private, efficiency issues)
- Who receives (rich vs. poor access to utilities/schooling/health/etc.)
- Infrastructure and Development - Eastern European perspective (any studies
that have been done to link investment in infrastructure to growth or
development in general in various countries, e.g. Poland or Czech Republic
as opposed to Albania or Ukraine, but not necessarily comparative studies,
although they will probably be the best, but anything will do - regressions
of growth rates on various infrastructure investment among other things, for
instance; also social indicators - life expectancy etc.)
If You could direct me to various useful sources in those areas, that would
be great.
Thank You very much in advance.
Sincerely,
Andrey
