What is emerging from this sorry business is the economic importance of
walking as a tourist activity. It is all very well saying that the
countryside is open but if people can't walk in it they see no point in
going. It's a lesson many people in the tourism as well as the agricultural
businesses would do well to heed when it comes to issues of access and
waymarking for instance.
Does anyone know if there has been any research on that?
