A reminder that the closing date for submission of abstracts for the
forthcoming Irish Social Policy Association / Social Policy Association (UK)
Conference in Dublin this July is Friday 30th March, 2001. Details of the
Conference are given below, and are also available on the Association's
website - www.ispa.ie.
If you are planning on attending the conference, please book early as
accommodation can be difficult to find in Dublin during the summer months.
We have block booked some accommodation in Trinity College for delegates,
but spaces are limited.
This conference is being held in association with the Social Policy
Association (UK) and follows on from the SPA/ISPA Conference to be held in
Belfast this year (see www.qub.ac.uk/spaconf for details).
Development, Regeneration and Social Policy
Hosted by the Irish Social Policy Association in association with the Social
Policy Association (UK)
Location: Trinity College, Dublin (July 26th and 27th, 2001) with a
Conference Dinner in Dublin Castle on the evening of 26th July and a field
trip around Dublin on Saturday 28th July.
Contributions for this conference are invited on the following sub-themes:
economic development and social policy; political development and social
policy; the role of partnerships (for example, local, national,
international, public-private) in social development; urban or rural
regeneration (including issues such as taxation incentives, marginalisation
and community participation). Suggestions for other relevant sub-themes will
be considered. Preference will be given to papers which examine Ireland,
especially those which adopt a comparative approach. Keynote speakers: David
Donnison (University of Glasgow), Seamus O'Cinneide (NUI, Maynooth), Anne
Power, (London School of Economics and Political Science).
Abstracts of around 150 words can be sent either by fax or by email
attachment in a Word or RTF file to Martina Reidy (see below) by Friday
March 30th 2001. The abstract should show your name, institutional
affiliation, mailing address, telephone and fax number and email address.
