You could think radically and consider C-I-SAID with acoustic
manager. Although this is primarily designed to analyse interviews and
dialogues it can also handle this sort of data as its designed to handle
both quantitative and qualitative data together. The amounts are
relatively small compared with say 50 one hour interviews. This latest
version, which I shall make available after Easter, has specific features
which make the analysis of large numbers of documents relatively easy.
Some useful features are
The ability to enter both forms of data into the same package
Thematic Content Analysis which can be a powerful aid in analysing the open
ended questions.
Most of the stats (with graphical outputs) you are likely to want are
contained within the package
After coding the open ended questions the ability to analyse suitable codes
from these with the other data.
if you really require it - though you probably wouldn't - output to SPSS.
