italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear friends and colleagues,
In two days we begin our annual meeting of the Renaissance Society of
American in Chicago 2001. But in a little more than one month, May 1st, we
shall arrive at the deadline for submissions to our next annual conference,
Tempe 2002. So, although this seems to be jumping the gun a bit, I write
now to urge you to think of the panels and/or papers you want to
submit for Tempe. As usual, the RSA conference has no special
theme. Papers on all topics are welcome. "Arizona Studies in the
Middle Ages and Renaissance," however, will produce a volume on
"reading and literacy" deriving from the conference. All submissions
on that topic will be automatically considered for the volume. The
volume editor is Ian Moulton of ASU West.
One bit of news: by next week I shall be able to tell to you how you
can make submissions online and avoid the bother of multiple copies, manila
envelopes, postal delays, and all the rest. RSA conferences will always
remain real , but that's no reason why the submission process can't be
electronic and easy.
Robert Bjork of the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies
is investigating renting out the Grand Canyon for plenary sessions if
enough of you wish to attend in 2002.

2001, a directory of all members, forms for joining if you are a new
member, and a submission form for Tempe 2002.
