PROPOSAL FOR A SCALAR OVERVIEW
OF DESIGN FOR
GESTURAL CONTROLLERS
AND APPLICATIONS
BASED ON THEIR
'VIRTUALITY'

As much as acoustic instruments have been grouped
into 'families', and became the basis for
the classical orchestra, this seems still not
be the case with gestural controllers.
Which is even more remarkable, considering
the many developments taking place since the
last couple of years.

'virtual'
This kind of proposed indexation, or overview builds upon existing
information and is based on the scale moving from 'concrete'
tactile control towards 'virtual' tactile control. This
means increasing the decoupling of the obvious connection
between 'source' and 'target', resulting in the blurring of
a clear cause and effect mechanism for the perceiver.
