Jim,
Just a quick note re the situation in Buckinghamshire...(Sandy may want to
give a more considered response in due course).
Generally speaking we have a good relationship with Anglian Water and the
Forestry Commission, who seem to consult us fairly systematically. Thames
Water are not so good at consulting us, and we have very rare (once in a
blue moon) consultations from Electricity companies and other Drainage
Companies (sewerage schemes). British Gas never consult us in advance.
Consultation by the Environment Agency is very patchy and mainly confined to
proposals for conservation management in streams and rivers.
We've had very few consultations from stat. undertakers this year and not
many last year. On the whole our statutory undertakers consult us direct
rather than using consultants. None of them have asked for responses in
unrealistic timescales, though our own performance indicator is to respond
to planning-related queries within 14 days.
Hedgerow Applications: one of our Districts is very good at consulting us
(we scan the weekly planning lists and have not noticed any that they
haven't consulted us on) although these still only ammount to a handful of
applications each year. We've had very few applications from the other 3
Districts...probably about a half-a-dozen in total since the Regulations
were introduced!
