ESRC Competition Awards
(Fully funded ESRC awards, paying full grant (£8500 pa), fees and funds for
research expenses)
QM Geography Department has ESRC Mode A and B recognition for full and
part-time doctoral students. We also have a first class record in attaining
awards and in PhD completion
- Students wanting to apply for ESRC Competition Awards are encouraged to
contact Dr Miles Ogborn (Director of Graduate Studies,
[log in to unmask]) or the member of staff who is closest to their
research interests well in advance of the 1st May 2001 deadline.
- Students making applications to ESRC will automatically be considered for
the QM College Studentships and will be given preference.
2 QM College Studentships
(Fully funded at research council rates and covering full fees, some funds
available for research expenses).
-These studentships are open to applications for research leading to a PhD
in both Physical and Human Geography, which fit within the Department's
main research themes:
- Economic and social justice
- Culture, space and power
- Health and population dynamics
- Quaternary environmental change
- Fluid processes (hydrology and atmospheric processes)
- All applicants for PhD places at QM will be entered for the QM College
Studentship Competition, preference will be given to those who have made
applications for ESRC Competition Awards for research at QM.
