Kingdom. It has had strong research and teaching expertise in disability
area.
The Rehabilitation Resource Centre, http://www.city.ac.uk/human/RRC/RRC.htm
founded in the early 1980s has formed the university’s research expertise in
the area of the issues regarding the employment of the disabled people. It
has also run an M.Sc. course in Vocational Rehabilitation and Disability
Management at Work and it has extended recently this course as an online
postgraduate certificate course.
The Department of Language and Communication Science,
http://www.city.ac.uk/human/LCS/index.htm has formed the university’s
expertise in the issues regarding communication of hearing, speech and
language disabled people. It has run both undergraduate and graduate
courses for therapy focus; BSc in Speech & Language Therapy; MSc in Human
Communication; Diploma in Speech & Language Therapy.
Department of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities of the St Bartholomew
School of Nursing & Midwifery, http://www.city.ac.uk/barts/mhdept.htm has
formed the university’s expertise on the mental and learning disabilities
with a focus on nursing education and research.
Department of Information Science, http://www.soi.city.ac.uk/is/ and the
Centre for Human Computer Interaction Design http://www-hcid.soi.city.ac.uk/
have formed the university’s research expertise in communications and
information technology for disabled people.
