Can anybody offer advice on the treatment of Town and Parish Council owned
land within their strategy?
Town councils in particular seem to own land. If these bodies are separate
legal entities against which part IIA enforcment could be taken (if
nessesary) this would seem to imply they should NOT be included within a
strategies plans for the review of council owned land.
However politically and in the spirit of 'joined up government' it seems
sensible to include town and parish council land within the borough council
review if possible.
Has anybody made provision for the review of Town and Parish council land
in their strategy?
To complicate matters a little, the situation of land holdings by towns and
parishs and there reletionship with their Borough Councils can get quite
complex. Land records may be kept and adminstered by the borough council.
In some cases a town council may possess land but if it is sold or
developed the funds or title can pass to the borough.
