The Centre for Research into East European Business and Other Transforming
Economies
acts as a focus for Buckinghamshire Business School’s research in Central and
Eastern
Europe and other transforming economies. CREEB activities include research
into
managerial, organisational and economic change in (the former) East Germany,
the Czech
and Slovak Republics, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Russia and China;
multi-country projects; as well as the supervision of research students, publications
and
consultancy.
Whither Transformation: successful evolution or fragmentation and
decay?
The conference will explore the process and impact of economic transformation
in the
countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, China and
other
transforming economies, where the social-economic context continues to differ
from that of
the developed market economies.
The scope of the conference will be multi- and interdisciplinary and combine
keynote
speakers, paper and poster presentations, discussion, etc. Papers from a range
of
disciplines and comparative studies are welcome, including economics, international
business, management, law, ethics and sociology. All participants are encouraged
to take
part in a poster presentation of their research in addition to presenting a
paper.
There will be a doctoral track led by experienced supervisors and an award
of
£200 for the
best student paper presented in the doctoral track. The aim of the doctoral
track is to
encourage students to present their research, discuss their ideas and receive
constructive
feedback from experienced PhD supervisors and researchers.

Deadlines for receipt of submissions are as follows:
17 April 2001: Submission of abstracts
25 June 2001: Submission of completed papers (together with disk)
It is intended to publish papers submitted by 25 June 2001 in the conference
proceedings.
Abstracts and papers will be reviewed by the international conference committee.
Featured speakers will include academics and practitioners from and/or experienced
in
Central and Eastern Europe, the countries of the Former Soviet Union and other
transforming economies.
