CRESR is a formally recognised research institute of SHU. It annually secures in excess of 800K in
contract research. CRESR currently employs 19 research assistants, fellows and principle
researchers in its three main research areas of social policy, housing and urban and regional
regeneration. The Centre wishes to make an appointment to the post of Research Assistant
specialising in quantitative data analysis.
Much of CRESR's work involves the collation, manipulation and analysis of primary/secondary data
sets. The successful candidate will work within an established team and will provide a data
analysis input into a wide range of housing, economic development and regeneration projects.
Applications are invited from candidates with a degree in a numerate discipline. A higher degree
is desirable as well as experience of helping to secure and manage research projects and knowledge
of national data resources. Candidates should have good analytical and organisational skills and
be able to communicate findings to a variety of audiences both verbally and through report writing.
Experience of qualitative research techniques is preferable. It is vital researchers are
self-motivated but can also work within multidisciplinary teams. Experience of European or other
international work will be an advantage. The post may involve travelling within the UK and abroad.
