Does anybody know whether Ann Oakley's talk will be available somehow ?
it would be great to see her putting empirial (social) policy on the agenda,
as her father put social policy on the agenda.

Onderwerp: MOST SOCIAL POLICY CONSISTS OF UNCONTROLLED EXPERIMENTATION
Perhaps it is unfair to quote out of context. But 'Most social policy
consists of uncontrolled experimentation' is the first line of a summary of
a talk Ann Oakley is giving THIS EVENING at Manchester Statistical Society
(1745 CIS Building, Miller St. Tel 0161 837 4011 if you want to get in).
Ann Oakley is talking on Evidence-informed Policy and Practice. But I
wonder if other people see social policy as uncontrolled experimentation?
Does not this label imply a social engineering stance?
