medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I'm teaching a course on Medieval England, and while preparing material on towns, it struck me that I have seen no representations of patron saints (bishops, martyrs etc) hovering over or holding models of their towns and/or cathedrals... is the concept of (or medieval awareness of) a town patron saint less common in England than in, say, Italy or France?
