Whilst researching the history of social housing I discovered that the first
house built in my area under the Lloyd George government's Housing Act, 1919
(The Addison Act) had a white stone built into the front wall (brick)
indicating that it was the first house in the district built at public
expense. The date on the stone is 27 May 1920.
I am wondering if such a memorial stone is unusual or even unique and I
would be interested to hear from anyone on this subject.
