Dear David,
Whilst researching for my degree I was looking into the murder of a Mr
Paas by James Cook of Leicester. The papers said that this had been the
most horrific murder since - and I forget the chaps name and date for
the moment - had such an horrific murder been perpetrated. Via the net
I was able to look up the murder they referred to.
Also, the Victoria list - run by a university in the USA, primarily for
academics and students, is excellent for asking advice on . All members
can see the questions and the replies that are posted.
I have also just discovered a site called Leicester Research where
people can again ask questions on local history and family connections.
The net is wonderful after you have overcome your initial fright of it!
