I am forwarding this query from Worthing Museum about the League of Help "which
encouraged English towns to adopt and help French towns that had been devastated
by the First World War". Worthing was apparently in the scheme.
Could anyone point the Museum in the way of further information?

John
I seem to remember you mentioning that you belong to a history list that is
the equivalent of Britarch. If I am right, could I impose on you and ask
you to enquire whether anyone on the list knows anything about the League of
Help which encouraged English towns to adopt and help French towns that had
been devastated by teh First World War. I have quite a lot of information
about Worthing's involvement but have been unable to trace anything further.
Worthing was not the only Sussex town to participate. I have tried the PRO
and the Scottish Records Office (who hold the archive relating to Sir
Charles Dundas who led the scheme) but to no avail. Am I the onlyperson
left int eh country who knows anything about this scheme?
Sorry to be a nuisance.
All the best
Sally
