be to do with the Press Gang. I always think of the Press Gang as
being to do with ships and the navy -- not very appropriate for
Nottingham? But did the Army use impressment (empressment?) as well?
It was the Napoleonic War period, although I can't remember whether
we were actually at war in 1799 itself.
Hope this doesn't muddy the waters.
