Dear All,

Yes, the early-childhood list is still up and running, but (as you
have noticed) is not very active.
Perhaps 'Early Childhood' is not a subject that lends itself easily to
public discussion - or perhaps members are just too busy to talk -
but it would be good to see the list more active, if only with the
purpose of establishing a visible on-line community in an area
where some members may be otherwise working in isolation.
We are quite a large list now (74 members) from a range of
backgrounds - academics, students, early years professionals.
Members can use the list to publicise conferences, post research
queries or requests for help/advice, and to discuss matters of
mutual concern or interest. Any member who wants to send a
message to the list just addresses it to:

and it is automatically distributed to everyone on the list. If you
reply to a message you can reply privately to the sender, or
publicly via the list - just check in the 'to' line of your email to make
sure it is going where you intend. Sometimes it is good to send
replies publicly if the matter is one of general interest - it keeps
other list members informed and can spark a general discussion.
If you have any queries about the list or how to use it send a
message to:

This comes direct to Penny Munn, John Griffiths and myself, the
'listowners' who run the list.
Best wishes,
Lesley
