The Centre for Disability Studies (formerly the Disability Research Unit) at Leeds is pleased to
announce these forthcoming events:
14th March, 2–4pm, Mairian Corker (Kings College London) ‘Thinking Difference’
March, date tba, Robert Evans (Manchester Metropolitan University). ‘Deconstructing
Tourette’s Syndrome’
‘New Directions in Disability’ is a series of guest lectures by disability activists and academics
commencing October 2000. Themes include:
The interdisciplinary future of disability studies;
The implications of research concerning disabled children and young people;
The relationship between activism and the academy
The psycho-emotional dimensions of disability
Developing the social model of disability’.
Other speakers include Mike Oliver, Mairian Corker, Carol Thomas, Jenny Morris, Colin Barnes.
Sessions will be held at the University of Leeds, Room 10.03, Economic and Social Studies
building.
