REMINDER: CALL FOR PAPERS
This year at the CMSW meeting in Washington DC (Aug 3-5), we will build on
the success of last year's Refereed Roundtables: we have scheduled both
"Refereed Roundtables" and "Work-in-Progress Roundtables." The former will
be for more fully-developed papers, and the latter will be for papers that
are still in gestation and on which you might like to get some help from
fellow critters.
We welcome submissions of both kinds. Just send in your abstract and tell
us which kind of table you would prefer to be at. We will do our best to
accept as many papers as we can. The accepted papers will be listed in the
official program and we can provide formal letters to acceptance to those
who need them for funding purposes.
You know the topics: Any critiques of capitalism as an institution or of
organizational practices. We accept papers not only in the traditional
critical theory perspective (Frankfurt School) but also papers from
Marxian, Feminist, Deep ecological, postmodernist, post-colonial, and a
myriad of other critical perspectives.
Abstracts should be sent to Carroll Stephens, either electronically to
<[log in to unmask]> or by snailmail to: Carroll Stephens, Department of
Management, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA 24061.
The deadline for submissions has been extended. It March 10, 2001.
If you have any questions please call Carroll at (540) 231-7752 or contact
her at <[log in to unmask]>.
The programme is looking good. The academic keynote speaker is Mayer Zald.
There will be a labour leader and a political speaker, as well. Ethics and
power tutorials. Excellent sessions on work, teaching, identities and
globalisation. Doctoral workshops and social time. But plenty of room still
for your input!
